Field Selector

This document offers a comprehensive understanding of how Field Data selection works. With the Instnt Accept workflow builder, you have the power to customize workflows according to your specific requirements, beginning with the influential Field Selector tool. This extensive flexibility allows you to create highly personalized workflows that perfectly match your unique needs.

Field data refers to the information provided by end-users on Instnt-powered sign-up pages. Our internal decision engine processes and models this data, accessible through our API or SDK. The field data plays a crucial role in determining whether a user's application is accepted, rejected, or requires additional review.

How to select the Field Selector?

After signing up and creating an end-user in the Instnt dashboard, you can customize the fields using the Field Selector tool. The tool includes pre-selected mandatory fields, but you can also customize and remove fields in the "Add Fields'' section. For more detailed instructions on selecting Fields, see Quick Start Guide.

Here are the steps for selecting the fields: 

  1. Sign up and create an end-user account in the Instnt dashboard.
  2. Access the Instnt dashboard and click on "Create Workflow."
  3. Enter a Workflow Name, and then proceed by clicking on "Next Step."
  4. Choose the type of user data you want to collect from the available fields. Instnt offers a comprehensive list of commonly used fields for signup processes, and custom fields.
  5. To add custom fields, click the "Add New Field" button. When adding custom fields, keep in mind that the "Field Name" is used for integration purposes, while the "Field Label" is for UI description purposes.

Types of Fields

Instnt offers a wide range of field options, allowing you to customize the fields collection process based on your specific requirements. The types of field categories range from mandatory, required, optional, to custom fields. For more information on the available field types, see the Fields Dictionary.

Mandatory Fields

Mandatory fields are predefined fields created by Instnt, and they cannot be changed or removed. These fields are designed to capture essential information from end-users during the sign-up process. Examples of core fields could include standard personal information such as name, email address, phone number, date of birth, and address.

For KYC, both the National ID (SSN) and Date of Birth are required for the US, but for Canada, only Date of Birth is required. Some of these features have dependencies on the rule selection, and the feature-field relations are mentioned in the Fields Dictionary.

Required Fields

Required fields are those that must be completed by users during the sign-up workflow. These fields ensure that necessary data is provided, preventing incomplete submissions and maintaining data integrity.

Required fields can include custom fields specified during the sign-up process. You can define which fields are marked as required based on specific needs.

When a user encounters a required field, they must fill it out before proceeding to the next step or submitting the application.

Optional Fields

Optional fields such as SSN, Selfie, Document Verification, and Address Verification can be incorporated to enhance user authentication by adding additional layers of verification.

Custom Fields

Custom fields are created fields that offer flexibility to capture additional information beyond the standard. These fields are tailored to meet specific workflow requirements. Custom Fields can be added, modified, or removed based on your business preferences and needs.

Instnt recommendation

Instnt recommends adding additional required fields and enabling document verification in your user onboarding flow. These checks add extra security layers to authenticate the identity and legitimacy of your users, significantly increasing the likelihood of receiving an 'Accept' decision from Instnt.
